I live on the west coast of Canada, on Vancouver Island. I discovered this site when I went on-line in a flap trying to find Irish recipes. My husband called me at work and said "Oh, by the way, we're invited to a potluck dinner tomorrow night with an Irish theme". What the heck do the Irish eat? I follow the Atkins diet so I was dismayed when the majority of recipes involved potatoes in one form or another; that, and bread, neither of which I can eat. I decided to make 'devils on horseback' and some salad in cheese cups which I don't know are particularly Irish but I did find them on an Irish website. I also made some soda bread for everyone else to eat. My all-time favorite cookbook is Sheila Lunkin's Around the World ... she tells a little story for each recipe and I've never had a dish go wrong. My least favorite is the Joy of Cooking - I only keep it around for the easy trifle recipe.
