Been cooking since I was ten... my mother is a great cook and I learned by watching... and then helping her in the kitchen. As an adult, found it was easier to eat out, living single in cities with great restaurants made that one a no brainer. Leaving NYC for a small town with limited variety of dining options sort of forced me to come into my own as a cook... getting married and having someone to cook for ( he's a great guinea pig! ) has also helped the process along. It didn't hurt that I finally got a nice kitchen that wasn't the size of a linen closet... I'm not much for following recipes... or measuring... but I like experimenting with recipes, monkeying around with food and replicating things I've eaten elsewhere. So all in all, cooking is a great hobby... which my husband appreciates, as do our co-workers who tend to reap the benefits of my many trail and errors.
