    I got this from a vegan recipe website - http://www.bryannaclarkgrogan.com/page/page/579094.htm. This is a lot cheaper than store-bought granola; it is also made in the microwave, which is good because it doesn't dry out like most granola made in the oven. Low-fat and a lot more nutritious than store-bought, as well. It sounds good, but I haven't tried it yet...lemme know what you think, and cooking/prep times are estimates.

    This is my adaption of many other Granola recipes, especially "Healthy Granola" #100464. I like my granola to have crunchy clusters. I achieve these clusters by briefly cooking the granola on the stove, then baking.

    Got a craving for blackstrap molasses...high in calcium, iron & potassium. Got to thinking about the molasses horsefeed we used to dig through to find lumps of oat & cracked corn covered molasses to knaw on ...MMMmmmmm...Therefore made this big batch up for self-serve breakfasts while travelling on contract (& to know DH will not be looking for the super saturated sugary cereals in my absence - LOL). After thoroughly cooled, I bag in gallon freezer bags & freeze until wanted - I fill bags about 1/2 full & express as much air as possible before freezing. Blackstrap is a robust taste & I am sure a lighter grade would work well but not be as nutritious. I would also increase salt to 1 teaspoon if using a lighter grade molasses. The nuts are purchased raw, not preroasted if possible. I like to use sultanas, raisins, currants, chopped dates & figs, dried blueberries or cherries, depending on what I have onhand.

    The day before I gave birth to my son, I made this dish to enter into a chili contest at my husband's work. We won second place, even though we were unable to attend because I was in the hospital giving birth at that point! It takes a little bit of effort to make, but once all the ingredients are in, it's just a matter of waiting for the flavors to meddle. If I can make this dish 9 months pregnant, anyone can! Well worth the effort!
