    Yugoslavian Pita
    Handle

The family of a friend made something like this throughout his life. They did their best to recreate it using American ingredients. After many attempts, he came up with this recipe. It comes closest to the Old World recipe.

    Recipe #181405

    Select
    Mom's Shrimp Jambalaya
    Handle

She got this recipe while we lived in Louisiana, during my early childhood. It was love at first bite. The only thing that changed over time was how much cayenne pepper I used on it. If you just lightly spice it during cooking, then everyone can add their own cayenne pepper at the table.

    Recipe #181978

    Select
    Apple Quince Crisp
    Handle

I couldn't believe how wonderful the two fruits taste together. It wasn't easy to peel quince, but well worth it.

    Recipe #182276

    Creamy, Easy No-Peeling Potato Soup

I don't think it can get much easier. This one got a double thumbs up from DH. It's important to use frozen mashed potatoes and not dried, instant mashed potatoes. This was published in The Columbus Dispatch.

    Recipe #183762

    Dominosteine

Molly53 was kind enough to post this in the German food forum. I have not made these, although I have tasted the commercial product at an Oktoberfest. Yum and more yum. If this recipe is half as good, it will be great! The recipe called for 7 grams of potash. I substituted 1 tsp. of baking powder, but I have no idea if this is the correct amount or not. Prep time is a guesstimate.

    Recipe #185662

    Select
    Mocha Frosted Drops

My most favorite cookie in the world. From BH&G. Prep/cooking time does not include time for cookies to cool before frosting.

    Select
    Irish Whiskey Fruitcake
    Handle

This is the fruitcake I made for my birth family for many years; my sister still loves it and swears it is better than any fruitcake she's ever tasted. I haven't tasted any that come close. It needs 2 - 4 weeks for the flavors to meld and age well. Prep time is only a guess.

    Recipe #197585

    Select
    Grandma's German Kolaches
    Handle

She called it "Kuchen", but, er, it isn't. She was Swedish and learned German dishes from her German MIL....maybe something got confused in the translation. Number of kolaches is just an estimate. Please read through the entire recipe before making.
