When I was a bartender people always commented that I made the best mixed drinks. One of my requested mixed drinks was my version of the Amaretto Sour. My “secret” was the addition of 7-Up which I think gave the drink a gentle fizz that broke up the syrupy sweetness of the drink. I usually made my own sour mix, which was nothing more then Country Time Lemonade (another “secret”) or would mix lemon juice with some granulated sugar -- and shake vigorously. You can also use store bought sour mix.

There is nothing better than baking with fresh strawberries. Fresh-picked strawberries and almond-flavored whipped cream make a mouthwatering filling for this special summertime cake roll dessert. This recipe is from Kim's New England Kitchen. You can make the cake ahead of time, refrigerate and fill an hour or so before serving. You can even freeze the unfilled cake roll for three to four weeks before using. Shaved chocolate or toasted sliced almonds are excellent as additional toppings.

Figs stuffed with mascarpone cheese are a classic late-summer dessert in Italy. If you can't find mascarpone, substitute with cream cheese.

I created this concoction based on kburie's Tropical Martini. I thought I'd play around and see what it would be like as a creamier drink, and this was the result. I love it! It's sort of like a White Russian, but more tropical. I make this using rice milk, but I'm sure any type of milk would work wonderfully.

One of my favorites! Actually I think last night I may have had one too many. They taste so good, you forget what it is. And you get all the calcium you need for the day. What a drink! This is supposed to be made with half and half, but its too heavy for me, so I use low-fat milk. Ingredient amounts can be adjusted to personal preference.

From Gourmet Magazine, March 1996 issue.

This is my first post! Every time I make this cake people beg me for the recipe. Its adapted from an authentic Italian recipe and it's incredibly quick and easy to make. It uses everyday ingredients (omit the Amaretto if you don't have any) and the result is a moist, almost pudding-like cake which is full of flavour. Perfect for a decadent afternoon tea or to serve as a dessert. Hope you like it!

I came up with this version of my creamy cheese cake just for the holidays! You can use extract instead of amaretto. You can also use any of the hard squashs as butternut or sweet potato thats been baked and mashed smooth. You can also bake in a water bath by adding 1/2 inch of water to pan. Be careful removing cake when cooked if there''s any water left.

A lovely, simply garnish to dress up your hot beverage glasses for a dinner party or special occasion. Adapted from Cooking Pleasures magazine. Once you have garnished your glasses, fill with hot buttered rum, mulled cider, or even coffee. Unused dry mix will keep in a plastic airtight container for several months.

Very easy to put together. This is trifle, and not the same as the Tiramisu dish we all know. A high dish will give you three layers, in a low dish you will probably end up with two. The recipe I found in a magazine, the recipe there uses 2 cups of custard but I like to use three, it is really to taste. Here in the Netherlands we can buy the custard ready made in cartons (vanille vla) If that is not the case in your part of the world you will have to make the custard or use a vanilla instant pudding.
