@Mom on the move
Cooking has become increasingly fun to me over the past few years. My three kids, ages 9, 8 and 8 love to eat and are adventuresome in their eating. This is a good thing since we have lived in 6 countries since their births. Our family is a mini-united nations as my kids are from Asian descent. We are beautifully colorful and the three ethnic groups that make up our family make us very unique in our current country. I am particularly interested in cooking from scratch. Living overseas means that getting processed American foods and products are difficult to come by. A good healthy recipe that uses fresh produce can be prepared almost anywhere in the world. My favorite food is Chinese food, though I am the least skilled at cooking it. Because it was so cheap to purchase in China, we simply ordered out when we ate it. Besides, no one can top a good Chinese cook! Now I wish I would have given a little more attention to learning. What I did take away from China was a good lesson on learning to cook local foods. I paid particular attention to learning to cook in every country since then and our weekly menu is as diverse as our family. As a family we miss Mexican food and pork the most. Neither are available in our host culture. My latest hobby is pottery and ceramic design. I also love photography.
