I'm a refugee from Alabama who worked too long, retired too soon but had the good sense to pick Texas forty years ago. I like cookbooks that tell stories & friends who do too - enjoy strong Margaritas, smooth Martinis, & ice-cold beer W/Tex Mex food. Don't care much for trendy chefs, 20-ingredient recipes, nor cheese. I read Jr. League cookbooks & miss Jeff Smith a lot. Negilla & Alton are my favorite cooks. I'll die happy if I can just find that very special Chili recipe that I so enjoyed back in San Antonio almost forty years ago.
