ingredients
- 1⁄2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1⁄4 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 pinch red pepper flakes
- 2 tablespoons prepared brown mustard
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 lb polska kielbasa, cut in half and then sliced thin
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 green onion, sliced
- 4 carrots, cut into matchsticks
- 1⁄4 cup water
- 1⁄2 head cabbage, chopped
- 6 ounces broccoli slaw mix (1/2 a bag)
directions
- Heat up a large frying pan or wok on med-high heat.
- Add garlic powder, paprika, turmeric, and red pepper flakes to dry pan. Stir, let the spices heat up in the dry pan for about 1 minute. This releases the aromatic oils and helps the spices to blend.
- To the spices add olive oil, kielbasa, both onions, and the carrots. Stir to combine and cook 5-7 minutes, or until carrot begins to get tender.
- Add prepared mustard, water, cabbage, and broccoli slaw. Stir fry until cabbage is crisp-tender, about 5 minutes.
- Serve with rice.

This is AMAZING!! The only change I made was use 2 garlic cloves instead of garlic powder, and I only used 1/4 head of cabbage...(1/2 seemed like way too much!) I also added about 1 tbsp. soy sauce and 1 tsp. worchestershire. The taste is SOO good, and my husband really enjoyed it too...we will definitely make it again. Kudos for inventing such a tasty dish!! :-)

This was very good and so easy to throw together! A great weeknight meal. To save time I used already shredded carrots and coleslaw mix. I didn't have any turmeric, so I substituted ground mustard. Next time I will try it with the turmeric, which may make it a 5 star recipe! :-) I love your tip to heat the spices before adding the rest of the ingredients, I had never heard of doing that before! I am going to try that technique with other recipes as well. Made for PAC Spring 2010.
