Questions & Replies

  1. Has anyone received an explanation how this is only 1 point? One place I found this recipe stated it as zero points on the SmartPoints/Freestyle plan. Thanks. By the way, it is really good!

  2. When you calculate the #’s on the cake box it comes up with 7 points for 1 tenth of the cake. So how does it come down to 1 point freestyle

  3. How can cake and fat free Cool Whip have only one point and weight watchers

  4. How do you get 1 ww point per serving if the cake mix alone is 84 points per package?

Reviews

  1. Pretty good kind of crumbly but my family enjoyed it. I did do the math myself to make sure but yep it is not 1 point but 4 so I guess I wasted a few.

  2. This tasted so good I totally would not have believed it was only a few WW points! I read through the comments here before making and added in an egg white as I was worried about the cake crumbling. Turned out great, I made it in a round 9 inch pan and then piped some low fat cream substitute around the edges.

  3. I don't know what i did wrong, but this cake fell apart into crumbs the second i tried to serve it. it was rather bland, even my 16 year old son didn't want to finish it up. the points value doesnt add up correctly either, so that was a dissapointment. i'm sorry, but i won't be making this again.

  4. When I started WW, a variation this treat made a fairly regular appearance here but I have not made it in years. Came across this and decided it was time to try it again. My batch was made with yellow cake and diet Sprite and made into cupcakes for better portion control. The results were dense and lightly sweet, satisfied the sweet tooth for sure. My cupcakes barely rose and were a bit on the sticky side. I vaguely remember adding baking powder and an egg white long ago and will try that.

  5. I don't know how WW points are calculated, but...the box of Pillsbury yellow cake I have is 15.25 oz. and has a total of 1600 calories. It makes 24 cupcakes. That's 67 calories per cupcake. I don't use frosting. The cupcake is sweet and delicious enough without the frosting.

Tweaks

  1. This was okay, but was very crumbly. Next time, I would make the cake according to the package directions, substituting eggs with egg whites, and the oil with applesauce. Made this way, a serving is still 4 points, but the cake will hold together much better.
