Whiskey Glazed Ham

"This is a great ham to make for any family dinner! I got this recipe from a Disney cookbook and because my sister is a huge Disney fan, I had a dinner for her forty-fifth birthday and had an all Disney menu. My family loves this ham I really love making it! It turns out such a beautiful color when it's done."

directions

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees farenheit. Rinse and dry smoked ham, then stud it with whole cloves. Place in an ovenproof roasting pan and allow to stand at room temperature while you make the glaze.
  • Combine the rest of the ingredients in a saucepan, and bring to a boil. Reduce by about a third, which should take about ten minutes. If the dish flares up, don't worry. It never has for me before, but I am careful all the same. It would just be the alcohol burning off.
  • Brush about a third of the marinade over ham, cover loosely with foil, then place in preheated over. Baste ham with accumulated juices and extra liquid as needed, about every 20 minutes for a total cooking time of about one and a half hours.
  • If the ham needs more browning, turn the oven up to 400 degrees and keep basting with the juices and even the marinade if you have some left. Baste about every 10 minutes or so. Keep a close watch on it so it doesn't burn. Mine burned the very first time I made it. We still ate it, but it didn't have any juices left. Let it cool for about 15 or 20 minutes before slicing.

Hi! I am a new member, and I love to cook! My favorite cookbooks are usually those put out as a fundraiser by schools or organizations because those are recipes that have been used for years by families and are simple and easy to make! My favorite hobby is gardening. I drive my sister crazy buying pots! I just can't get enough plants! I really love trying out soup recipes. I remember that I was looking for a recipe for cream of vegetable soup and when I found one and made it, I thought it looked awful! My late dad ate it and said it was delicious! I love eating at out of the way restaurants and one of my favorites is called Nick's Inn in a town not far from where I live. They have the best Greek salad I have ever had! I work in retail and I really love the people I meet! I live with my mother, sister, nephew and my dog Zeppelin. He's a golden retriever and he loves to eat! Thanks for welcoming me and I look forward to sharing my recipes with you!
