  1. Once again Inez, you have submitted a delicious recipe! This is perhaps one of the best bean soups I have ever eaten. My only negative comment is that I thought 3 onions would be a bit much, so I used only one. It turned out well. I think 3 onions would just overwhelm the flavor of this great soup.

  2. This is so delicious!!!!!

  3. YUM!! I added chopped carrots. Great soup!

  4. Absolutely delicious. Instead of using all water, I use 2 large cans of chicken stock and the remainder water. It seems to give it a much richer flavor. Also, we have a Honey Baked Ham store in our town. They sell their left-over ham bones, which usually have plenty of ham left on them.

  5. Easy and really cheap. You need an entire afternoon or evening to do it so plan accordingly. I used some cubed ham, less than a pound and all the onions, the rest as written. I got 14 cups and figure I spent less than 4.00$ on the whole thing, really economical. Good, simple soup anyone would like.

After DH and I moved away from the farm, and to the city...I haven't done as much cooking and very little canning. But I do come to Zaar and look for new recipes once in a while. I'm still cooking Zaar!! I like to play at Facebook, with my family and friends. A lot of my Zaar friends are there!! Yay! It's a good way to keep in touch. We travel more. We're looking at the European trips now. Hope to go in the springtime. I really want to see London, I think I lived there in a past life, I've been obsessed with it since I was 10 years old!!
