Questions & Replies

  1. Can this be made with a turkey breast instead of legs?

  2. I am making this now, and am just a little concerned with how little broth is in the recipe - the turkey legs and most of the potatoes are not even touching the broth -- is this ok? On low temp in my crock pot, I don't know if there will even be enough steam to cook these turkey legs. Sorry, maybe I should just go with it and see how it turns out.

  1. We loved this recipe! My Kroger just started carrying all cuts of Turkey and I was so excited to find this recipe, it is a go to when I have a class at night and the rest of the family needs to have dinner. It is really flavorful and a nice alternative to pot roast. Thank you for posting.

  2. We loved this recipe, it's easy and delicious. I made it as written but left out the potatoes and browned the turkey legs before adding them to the slow cooker. I'll be making this again for sure.

  3. I made this today, following the recipe exactly with the exception of using two turkey legs instead of three. It took longer to cook than stated, and I ended up increasing the temp to High for an additional hour. It turned out very bland. In fact it was so bland it tasted like something they would serve a hospital patient on a restrictive diet. If I were to make it again (my husband has already asked me not to) I would double the spices, add some wine and something to give it some oomph like dried apricots. Being dark meat, I don’t feel that Worcestershire sauce would be out of the question. On a positive note, the turkey was fall-off-the-bone tender and moist, and the dog loved it.

  4. This is sooooo delicious. I follow the recipe exactly. I can't wait try on turkey wings.

  5. I was surprised that my boyfriend chose to make this on his day off. If he can cook it, then any begginer cook can pull this off and it is sure to impress. This dish was so comforting. I came home to my house filled with the aroma of spices. I was worried about the vegetables being over cooked, but they were cooked perfectly. The turkey was the most juicy poultry I have ever tasted. It was fall off the bone and had a warm southern taste.
