Texas Barbecue Sauce

"This recipe comes from Favorite Recipes of American Home Economics Teachers, Meats Edition. The copyright date is 1962. I bought the book at a huge attic sale sponsored by one of the local radio stations in the early '70's. This is a great BBQ sauce for grilling or baking almost anything."

ingredients

• 1 medium onion, finely chopped
• 2 tablespoons brown sugar
• 1 tablespoon paprika
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon dry mustard
• 1⁄4 teaspoon chili powder
• 1⁄8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
• 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
• 1⁄4 cup vinegar
• 1 cup tomato juice
• 1⁄4 cup catsup
• 1⁄2 cup water

directions

1. Place all ingredients in a non corrosive sauce pan.
2. Bring to slow simmer.
3. Simmer 15 minutes at medium low temperature, stirring occasionally.
