Teisen Fala (Welsh Apple Cake)

From a collection of old Welsh cake recipes purchased in Wales in 1992. This is one of my favourite apple cakes. It's great served with custard.

  • Peel and core the apples and cut into tiny dice.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Rub the fat into the flour, add the sugar.
  • Add the apples and mix together with a little milk to bind to a fairly stiff dough.
  • Spread into well greased shallow tin and bake at 350 F for about 30 minutes.

    Very good cake which we enjoyed! I used a round 8 inch pan and probably should have used a larger pan but it still worked out great and this is so easy to make! Thanks for sharing!
