Tastes Like Mc Donald's Tartar Sauce - Copycat

Tastes Like Mc Donald's Tartar Sauce - Copycat created by Loves2Teach

I make this every time we have fish sandwiches. It tastes just like Mc Donald's so if you love their fish sandwiches you'll enjoy this. Another great copycat from Todd Wilbur.

Ready In:
10mins
Serves:
Units:

ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons Hellmann's mayonnaise
  • 4 teaspoons heinz sweet pickle relish
  • 4 teaspoons finely minced white onions (no substitutions)
  • 2 pinches salt

directions

  • Combine mayonnaise, sweet relish, minced onion, and salt in a small bowl.
  • Mix thoroughly.
  • Chill for at least 1 hour to allow flavors to blend.
  • Remove from fridge about 10 minutes before serving and stir well.
  • Tip; If making sandwiches, add even more Mc Donald's flavor by lightly toasting cut sides of regular hamburger buns in a dry, nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Watch closely so they do not burn.
  • Melt a slice of American cheese atop a piece of cooked, breaded fish {Mrs. Paul's works well} and assemble sandwich.

Everyone is right, this is all wrong! In a blind taste test using family, friends, and coworkers, none of them could tell the difference between the 2 using THIS ?? recipe, and trust me, neither will you ~ 1/2 cup Hellmanns Mayo(can use any brand, just my preference) 1/4 cup DILL Pickle Relish 12 - 15 capers, minced 2 tsp dried minced onion 2 tsp milk or half & half 1 tsp parsley flakes 1/2 tsp lemon juice 1/8 tsp granulated sugar Combine all the ingredients together and chill for a few hours before using to insure the flavors "meld" together nicely

I think a "taste bud"check might just be necessary.! I could tell from merely reading the recipe that this is not like the tartar sauce used on the fish sandwich at McDonald's, the tartar sauce IS the only redeeming part of that sandwich. DILL pickle relish is used, NOT sweet pickle relish. I always use "Vlasic" dill relish, it's the closest to "the real thing"... Bon Appetit!

This recipe is all wrong. Not even close. Should be Magic Whip with dill relish, minced onion, half & half, a bit of lemon juice and a pinch of sugar. Can add a bit of parsley flakes and chopped capers.

I am in love with McDonald's tartar sauce and this is nothing like it. It's an ok tartar sauce if you like sweet tartar sauces which I do not.
