Questions & Replies

  1. I am confused. The recipe calls for baking powder and salt. Is that to be added if I am using all purpose flour only? Just for clarification. If not using 3 cups self rising flour, the recipe would be: 3 cups all purpose flour, 4 1/2 tsp baking soda and 1 1/2 tsp salt?

  2. The recipe said to add 1 1/2 tsp.baking powder and 1/2 tsp. of salt per cups of flour. Is this the correct amount per cup of flour or is this the total amount that you are suppose to put in the 3 cups?

  1. Very simple. My family loves this recipe and we have spent our share on the TS mixes! Has a denser texture than the name brand, so I tried again and sifted the flour and sugar before adding the beer. That did it. Made it much lighter and is dead ringer for the origonal! Great recipe! Have made it numerous times at least a dozen. Dont miss out on this one!

  2. My family loves the TS beer bread mix but I don't buy it often because its so expensive. I stumbled on this recipe this afternoon and decided to give it a try. I'm so glad I did! We won't be buying the TS mix again! This is spot on!

  3. Had this at a TS party about a year ago. I was appalled at the price and set out to find the recipe, so I could make it myself, without the pricey mix. This tastes great, goes together easily and is MUCH cheaper than the TS mix. Thanks for sharing, doviann.
