Sunbeam Waffles

Sunbeam Waffles created by Baby Kato

I bought a working 1950's Sunbeam Waffle Iron (80 square inches of waffle!) at an estate sale, and found the original insert with the recipe online. The addition of vanilla makes these waffles perfect.

after step 3, add 1/2 to 2/3 cup water to turn the play-doh consistency mortar you're mixing into actual batter

there's honestly something wrong with this recipe. every time i finish first 3 steps, i have dough. not batter, dough. like play-doh consistency. i always need to add like 1/2 to 2/3 cup water to the batter to make it INTO batter. once you do add a bunch of water, the waffles taste fine, but because the recipe seems so off, can not currently recommend.

Thank you for sharing your lovely recipe. I enjoyed these waffles very much. I garnished them with icing sugar, butter and a little heated maple syrup. They were big, fluffy and tender. Quick and easy to make. Thank you for sharing this recipe. Made for New Kids on the Block.
