directions

  • Pour boiling water into a large heatproof pitcher. Add teabags and mint leaves; let stand for 5 minutes. Discard teabags and mint leaves.
  • Add frozen lemonade, sugar and cold water, mixing well. Serve over ice; garnish with mint sprigs.
  • A really neat way that Gooseberry showed this drink is to put each serving in mason jars, sealer lids and all, with a slice of lemon in each jar. Put all the jars in a bucket of ice and serve to your guests that way. Very impressive for a barbeque or gathering and a very inexpensive way to do it as well.

I'm editing my review, as I made this iced tea the other day, but found I only had 12 Kentucky Mint Leaves, so I also used 2 Bigelow Plantation Black-Spearmint Tea Bags (along with the 12 black flavored tea bags). I felt the taste of the spearmint really came through, and the tea was quite refreshing and delicious! September 20, 2012: Nif, Throughout the Summer I've been making this iced tea by the gallons several times a week. But I have tweaked the recipe. To make almost a gallon, I use 8 cups of boiling water, 14 tea bags (I use orange-pekoe & black tea bags, which I purchase at Aldi's), 25 spearmint leaves (which I found using spearmint leaves, gives the tea just a slight hint of mint flavor, which still is quite refreshing and oh so good!!), a 12-ounce can of the frozen lemon concentrate, plus I do add the 1 cup of sugar (which sorta gives this iced tea that sweet tea taste (but not overly sweet), plus 4 cups of cold water. I do cover the gallon size glass jar w/a small dinner plate while I steep the tea 15 to 20 minutes, and after I remove the tea bags and spearmint leaves, I stir in the sugar, cover the jar w/the plate, and let the tea set for 90 minutes to cool down. Then I add the lemon concentrate and the 4 cups of cold water. My son-in-law and daughters enjoy this iced tea as much as I do. It's become a family favorite! Nif, thanx for posting this recipe!!

We love mint tea so this one was going to be a winner! I used my iced tea maker and layered the mint leaves on top of 6 regular sized tea bags. I would use a little less sugar next time but I like a tarter flavor. Nif this was a great iced tea recipe, thank you for sharing. Made and reviewed for Kittencal's Mini Cook-a-thon.

This so sooooooooo good! :) I'm one of those people who likes a little tea with my lemon, as DH says. lol. This tea is perfect for us lemon lovers! I omitted the mint b/c I didn't have any but don't think I missed it - it was perfect for me! *takes a sip* Mmmmm, thanks for sharing!

Mmmmmmmm, this is lovely. I used fresh lemon juice and Splenda in place of the concentrate to control the sugar. I didn't have fresh mint so steeped the tea with fried mint which I filtered out to avoid the wee green flecks all over the place. The end result was mighty tasty and easy to do.

So yummy and refreshing on a hot July summer day! I didn't have quite enough lemonade concentrate, so used 1 cup less water. My DH and I both enjoyed it! Thanks! Made for Newest Zaar Tag.

I love great food and I particularly like trying cuisines new to me! Although I don't prepare as much food as I used to, creating in my kitchen is still one of my favourite things to do. Enjoy!
