Strawberry Pretzel Bars

"OOOh yummy! Always a hit with kids and adults. There's always room for Jell-O! To crush the pretzels, put them in a ziploc bag and crush with a rolling pin."

directions

  • preheat oven to 375 farenheit.
  • in a lrg. bowl, mix pretzels, sugar, and butter. spread mixture in a greased 9"x13" baking dish and bake for ten minutes.
  • set aside and let cool.
  • in a med. bowl, blend cream cheese and Cool Whip til smooth.
  • spread over pretzel base evenly.
  • in a lrg. bowl, prepare Jell-O as directed on box, EXCEPT use 1/2 cup LESS water than advised.
  • add strawberries to Jell-O, stir until mixture slightly thickens.
  • pour Jell-O mixture over cream cheese layer.
  • refrigerate til firm (usually around 3 hrs.).
  • cut into bars, serve, and enjoy!

  1. The recipe is a little vague about how to prepare the jell-o. It would not cool down enough to thicken even a little. Need to maybe use the quickset method and put ice in and less water. I went ahead and poured it on top and OMG, the next thing I was watching was the liquid trading places with the cream cheese layer!! What a disaster :( Well, it still tasted ok, but the crust turned to mush,,,of course.
