Strawberries With Sour Cream and Brown Sugar

"I didn't believe this would be good either until I tried it. It's good for calorie counters who don't want to sacrifice flavor. The sour creams blends well with the sugar, making the whole thing taste like strawberries with whipped cream."

  1. YUM! I used Splenda Brown sugar mix and regular Sour Cream. These tasted amazing and were relatively low carb. After 3 strawberries I just mixed the sugar and sour cream together which didnt affect the taste at all.

  2. Hello Milla In my version of this recipe I mix the sour cream and brown sugar together and add a dash of cardamom or nutmeg. Let is sit for about 1/2 hr so that the sugar melts and spice has time to permeate sour cream. Then use it as a dressing for fruit salad--don't forget the unsweetened coconut and some nuts. Use whatever fruits I have on hand or what are in season. Delicious Thanks for the memory Judy in WA

  1. I was so glad to see this recipe on here. I have been enjoying these luscious strawberries for years. The first time I had them was at the Strawberry Festival in Berwick Me many mooms ago. They have it every year the last Saturday of the month. You see people walking around eating all kind of yummy things made with strawberries, from strawberry pie to these luscious berries! Great for a pick me up during the day. What am I saying? They are great anytime! I have substituted brown sugar twin for the brown sugar for those watching the weight or diabetic. Sometimes I just mix it in the sour cream. (You can use low fat sour cream and it works fine too). I'm headed to the store to get some strawberries in a few and can't wait to have some! Thank you for sharing with us Milla! Linda

Well, I'm a newbie cook and recipezaar junkie. I realized about three years ago (at 24) that it was high time I learned how to cook, so I've been trying things since then. I'm nowhere near the cook I want to be and I still fumble things up in the kitchen, but someday soon, I know I'll make a meal I can be very proud of. Until then, my live-in boyfriend will have to endure (and eat with a smile) all the fumbles. Workwise, I'm an editor and writer, have worked in various media and genres ranging from business news to gay erotica. (Guess which one I liked more?) I'm currently earning my masters in journalism at USC while working parttime. I enjoy traveling, reading, writing, yoga, laughing, sleeping the day away and my bimonthly half-hour massages. I also enjoy the newest addition to my family, my little puppy Juice.
