ingredients
- 3 (10 3/4 ounce) cans campbell's cream of potato soup
- 3 (10 3/4 ounce) cans Campbell's Cream of Mushroom Soup
- 3 (4 ounce) packages mushrooms
- 3 top sirloin steaks
- 4 russet potatoes, cooked and cut into bite size pieces
- steak seasoning
- 1 pint half-and-half
- 4 garlic cloves, chopped
- butter, to saute the mushroom
- salt and pepper, lots of pepper
directions
- Season the steaks and brown them each side.
- When done, let them cool.
- In the meantime, melt the butter.
- Add mushrooms and garlic.
- Let them brown up before salting to taste.
- In a large pot, pour in the soups, potatoes, and mushrooms.
- Cut up the steak into bite sized pieces and add to the pot.
- Add half-and-half and let simmer a bit.
- Add salt to taste.
- Now, the most important ingredient--add pepper--quite a bit, like a tablespoons to start (I would add in increments and taste). You want it to be very peppery.
- I usually serve this with garlic bread on the side.

WOW! I have been looking for a potato soup recipe for a long time and this is PERFECT! I too used milk and I didnt add mushrooms because the young ones dont like them. I started making it at 3 so it could simmer a while and everyone could eat when they were hungry... I also put out shredded cheese, crumpled bacon, and onions so people could top with their favorites. Everyone loved it, especially me because I am a meat and potatoes woman from birth lol! Thank you so so much for this wonderfully easy recipe!

I got raves with this soup. No kidding, like on a commercial. My DH never raves about any food. I really wish that I could give this 10 stars. It's very simple to make and hearty enough to make the full meal with a salad. I used Montreal Steak Spice and 2% milk because I just don't keep 1/2 and1/2. It was rich and thick with no added thickening. I did let it cook longer just because dh wants meat tender with a capital T and I made this for him. It likely simmered on "min" heat for 1 1/2 hours. Thanks so much for sharing this one jenn, truly.
