  1. My husband and I were very unsatisfied with this soup. The ingredients overpowered the smoked turkey. I'm sorry I wasted out leftover smoked turkey. It tasted like regular split pea and ham soup.

  2. This was so yummy. I did change a few things. I added about 1/2 cup of diced onions, 1/2 tsp of salt. I only had dried chives. I put 3 tsp of dried chives in. I used green split peas (couldn't find yellow). I used homemade chicken stock. That always makes such a difference for me with soups. Also, I'm assuming that the dried tomatoes are sun dried tomatoes. I bought the jared kind and chopped a little bit to make smaller pieces. The key to this is the smoked turkey. I used leftovers from my husbands last hunting trip. The turkey was a Wal-mart purchase... not a result from hunting. Ha! This soup needed to go longer than 7 hours on my crock pot. But, that will vary from crock pot to crock pot. Yum, I'm sitting here eating a tiny bowl waiting for my husband to come home from work so that we can eat it together.

  3. Very good soup! I hate to give less than five stars when I change things about a recipe so I am just posing a review for now. We used regular turkey leftover from TG last year. I also used green peas instead of yellow, left out carrots because I had none. Used garlic powder because that's what I had. I would rate it a four-star recipe even with my changes but I am sure it is five when made as written! YUM! Oh and I added onion as well as the fresh chives. (picture coming soon!)

  4. This is a really great soup. I smoked a turkey and had a lot left over, this was a great use for it. I will definetly be making this again. Thanks for the recipe!
