Spiced Sweet Potato Chips

"My kids love sweet potatoes but just having them steamed or baked is getting a little tired for them, so I came up with something a little different for dinner the other night and they loved them. EDIT: These will be soft. I suppose if you wanted them crisp you'd have to slice them much thinner."

directions

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees farenheit. Peel the potato and slice into 1/2" thick slices.
  • Lay slices out on a parchment lined baking sheet. If you don't have parchment paper, feel free to use cooking spray, but expect them to still stick a bit.
  • Mix the cinnamon sugar in a small bowl, then sprinkle over potato slices.
  • Bake 30 minutes or until tender.

  1. These sound yummy. What a great healthy snack! Just want to say that to get them crisp, toss with 1-2 tsp oil first and cook at 500 on the lowest shelf, turning when brown on the bottom. These might be a little thin for that method; I would try cutting some 1/2" to 1" thick, or in wedges, and see what works best.

  2. We loved these. It's a quick and easy way to serve sweet potatoes without all the fuss of making a sweet potato casserole, yet still having that same great flavor. Thanks for sharing this winner, DbKnadler!

  3. I make these a lot and love them. The trick to crispier "chips" is to space them out pretty well on the sheet (don't crowd).

  4. My chips came out soggy...maybe I was wrong to expect them to be crisp..I would not make again.

I am a mother of 2 young kids, one of which is picky. I came to the 'Zaar looking for new ways to prepare foods to try and get my family to eat healthier. I am proud to say both my picky one and my picky husband are eating a lot more vegtables and liking them! I love to collect cookbooks (don't we all) because I am always on the hunt for yummy new recipes. When I find a recipe I love, it goes on a 4x6 card and into my recipe box for future use. Since I like trying new things, the recipe has to be pretty special for me to hang on to it. I would say a good 90% of what I make I like, but just not enough for it to be THE recipe. I am generally not a picky eater, I like most things, but am just always on the look out for something different. I want us to eat healthier and have been preparing healthier foods, but we do enjoy the occasional bad meal. :) I am trying to do a couple all veggie dinners each week, a couple nights of fish, and the rest of the week is a toss up with chicken filling in the majority of the time.
