Yummy! I did not add the walnuts, and I used about 3/4 tsp of nutmeg because I was afraid it would be overpowering. I made these for a potluck at DH's work, and they received rave reviews! I will make them again sometime so that I can enjoy more than one of them...I think they would be wonderful with a cup of coffee. Thank you for posting, I will make them again!

Very good and very easy to make. I don't care for nuts in cookies, so I left those out. The spices give a very subtle taste, not overpowering at all. Thanks for posting Julie! I'll be making them again! ETA: I made these again, only adding nuts this time - they are very yummy!! Unfortunately they still turned out flat, but they are yummy!! Thanks again, Julie!

Dear Julie...You have the best cookie recipes. I still make your recipe#182242. and this one too is a keeper and the smell alone is worth 5 stars. I love the aroma thru the house of the different spices all mingling together. I used regular Crisco shortening and then for the flour I used 1/2 white flour and 1/2 wholewheat. Fabulous tasting and they turned out just perfect with a bit of crackle to the tops. Thanks for a good one that I will be sharing with my mom who is a spice nut like myself. Made for SpringPAC 08' and April's Spice of the Month-CINNAMON~
