DIRECTIONS

  • Break bread into small pieces.
  • Place in a bowl and cover with cold water.
  • Soak 30 minutes, drain well, squeeze moisture from bread.
  • Place dried fruit, butter, marmalade, egg, nutmeg and vanilla in a bowl.
  • Add bread, mix well.
  • Blend in enough milk to make a stick consistency.
  • Pour into greased 18 cm square tin.
  • Bake in moderate oven 180 C for 1 hour or till firm.
  • Rest in tin for 10 minutes then turn out.
  • Delicious hot or cold.
