  1. I have similar recipe formula but instead of the fabric softener, I have baking soda. After it is cleaned (instantly) remove and rinse with warm soapy water and polish with a soft cloth.

  2. You must make sure and rinse the silver completely after immersion in this solution with fresh water as the salt may pit it.

  3. Works great! I used this on some silver candle sticks. Will use again. Thanks Chelle_N for posting!

  4. I have a silver tea set that was given to me by my Aunt a couple of years ago that I have never gotten polished to the shine I know it can be. I tried this recipe and it worked very well! When you dip the silver in the water solution, you can smell the silver oxidizing--I guess that is what the smell is. After immersing all three pieces, one at a time, I rinsed and dried each one of them. When drying, lots of the tarnish just wiped right off onto the towel. My teapot, creamer, and sugar holder really polished up. The base that it sits on didn't do as well, but I am very pleased with the results! I tried two other silver plates and a silver cup. One plate polished up great, the other plate and the cup didn't do so well. I wonder what makes some things react to the cleaning solution and others not really much at all? I will be using this method again. Oh, I posted three pictures. The first picture is a before picture and the last two pictures are after pictures. Thanks for posting, Chelle N!

  5. This worked quite well and was easy to do. The silver becomes definitely more shiny and cleaner, however the really bad, dark tarnishes did not come off. For those I guess it's still back to a polishing cloth and elbow grease! ;)

Most of my recipes are dairy free since I discovered many years ago that I am lactose intolerant. While I have had to give up some much-loved recipes, we have discovered that most can be modified to accommodate the changes to our diet. Most of my recipes say dairy free but there are a few from my childhood that may have dairy! I also have an intolerance to MSG so we spend a lot of time reading labels. Usually, it is just easier to cook from scratch, so we don't use many pre-made foods from the grocery store.</p> I like recipes I can make with minimal ingredients, real food I have in my kitchen, that are also easy to make!
