Semisweet Chocolate Icing

"This is the icing for the Vanilla-Fudge Marble Cake recipe #45104. Don't have the golden syrup? Well if you must, you can try substituting it with 2 parts light corn syrup and 1 part molasses or equal parts of honey and light corn syrup."

  1. This is soooo easy, not to mention excellent! I also used it to top the Fudge Marble cake and was thrilled with the result. My "Reason For Living" (RFL), who is NOT a big chocolate fan just loved it!!! I used the corn syrup and honey and as suggested by PKL in the previous review, increased it to 2 Tbsp of each ending up with the perfect consistency to drizzle and then to set up on the cake. Thanks so much for sharing your recipe!

  2. I'm so glad I ran across this recipe, Charlotte! It was perfect for recipe #20676 to drizzle over the top! I used your suggestion of the light corn syrup and honey for the golden syrup. Thanks so much!

  3. Made this to top the Vanilla-Fudge Marble Cake, and it was very good. I used one Tbsp. each of corn syrup and honey which, for me, made the perfect consistency. I will use this again. Thanks!

  4. i used this on top of your Fudge Marble cake. It went so well with the flavor of the cake. i used your suggestion of the honey and the corn syrup. i did find that it was too thick to really drizzle all the way down the sides. Easily remedied with the addition of more syrup and honey. A very nice icing. Thanks!

  5. A nice rich icing, which I used on your Vanilla-Fudge Marble Cake. It was very quick and easy to make. Resulting in a nice dark velvety icing, which was the perfect accompaniment for the marble cake....Simply outstanding.
