Raw "tacos"

"Delicious substitute for taco meat. You can go all raw and wrap this in lettuce leaves or use regular taco shells. Great topped with your favorite salsa and guacamole or even in a taco salad."

  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • cayenne powder
  • 13 cup Braggs liquid aminos (I suggest starting with less, taste first- in case this will make it too salty for you!)

  1. Delish - used far less braggs though

  2. Enjoyed this recipe! Like another reviewer, I added a bit of garlic and onion powder and this was tasty. Served in a lettuce leaf with chopped onion & tomatoes and it made a pretty good lettuce wrap. Honestly...I will be searching out other "raw" recipes.

  3. This was GREAT! We used it in lettuce wraps, on chips and plain out of the bowl! Great flavor (yes, do reduce the Braggs Aminos!) .... I keep finding less and less reasons to go back to meat or cooked food. Even DH is happy with the flavors of this 'new fangled' stuff. Thanks for posting yogi! UPDATE: In making this "taco meat" again, I added a bit of garlic powder and onion powder as well. Mmm Mmm good!

  4. Really very good!!!...funny, I did not read the first review until after I made it but I also only used only an 1/8 of a cup of the Braggs because I was concerned about the saltiness & believe me it was plenty so mind mliss29 on that one :)...it was all cool with me 'cause I'm a "salty type of Gal" {{lol}} :) ---I used the suggestion of lettuce wraps and served it with recipe#51921 and a homemade salsa for a raw vegan Mexican feast!!! :) a wonderful spicy...meaty concoction and for me a very special treat (I have never had a taco before & never eat chopped meat!!! ...plus my meat-head husband enjoyed it too {{lol}} )- - I really loved it , very versatile! Thanks yogi ...YUM!!! :)

  5. I forgot to soak the walnuts, but I think that was fine. Just in case, I only made half a batch. I started with 1/8 cup Braggs, which was a little much for my taste. I think I might like plain soy sauce better. I served it on romaine leaves with Recipe #51927, chopped tomatoes, and a simple guacamole of mashed avocado, lemon juice, cumin, and salt. It was really good! Thanks! Reviewed for My Three Chefs.
