  • Peel and cube potatoes.
  • Chop bacon and fry it.
  • Chop onion and other veggies if desired.
  • Put potatoes, bacon, onion, & veggies in large pot; cover with water.
  • Cook until fork tender.
  • Add butter and milk.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Salt and pepper.
  • Enjoy.

  1. Delicous! I made a few changes, though. I boiled the potatoes in 4 c. of water and added 4 chicken bouillion cubes. Then I added the evaporated milk, butter, celery, onion, and some shredded carrots. I left out the bacon, corn, and mushrooms and topped each bowl with shredded cheddar. It was some of the best potato soup I've ever eaten! =)
     
  2. This is delicious and simple soup! I didn't have any evaporated milk so I used what I had on hand which was some heavy whipping cream. I added 2 chicken bouillion cubes to the broth before adding the milk for extra flavor. I did add the celery but I minced it before adding to the rest of the ingredients because my Dh isn't a celery person. He didn't notice a thing! LOL He loved it! :) Thanks for sharing your grandmother's recipe!
