- 1 head cabbage
- 2 lbs russet potatoes
- 1 lb carrot
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 cup celery, chopped
- 2 teaspoons butter
- 1 smoked sausage
- 1 (16 ounce) can chicken broth
- 1⁄2 teaspoon thyme
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- 1⁄4 teaspoon pepper (or to taste)
directions
- 1. Melt butter in large pot over a stove. Sauté celery and onions. Add chicken broth and time to the mix.
- 2. Chop cabbage, potatoes, sausage and carrots and add them as well. Cover with adequate amount of water and simmer until potatoes are tender. Stir often.
- 3. Serve stew in soup mugs with salt and pepper being added if necessary.
