DIRECTIONS

  • Mix 1 1/4 cup of chopped dates with 1 cup of hot water. Cool.
  • Cream 1 cup of butter with 1 3/4 of white sugar.
  • Add 2 eggs and beat well.
  • Add 1 3/4 cups flour and 1 1/2 tsp of baking soda.
  • Stir in date mixture and tsp of vanilla.
  • Add 1/2 cup chocolate chips.
  • Spread in a greased 15 x 10 inch pan.
  • Top with 1/2 cup chocolate chips and 1 1/2 of chopped nuts (optional).
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
