- American cheese (optional) or cheddar cheese slice, kids love sloppy joes with cheese (optional)
directions
- Brown the beef, celery and onion in a large skillet till the meat is nicely browned but still a little pink inside. Drain off any fat and crumble the meat into tiny pieces. Stir in the chili sauce, mustard, water and the dill pickle juice to the pan. Bring to a slow boil then reduce the heat to a simmer and cook for about 10 minutes, flipping and stirring once in a while. Add more water if the mixture is too dry and heat till warm throughout.
- Serve on hamburger buns with optional American or cheddar cheese slices in the sandwich.
- A veggie such as corn and potato chips make good sides.

I did cut this recipe in half for just the 2 of us & it made for some very satisfying sloppy joes! Loved the bit of tang in 'em, & now I'm wanting to make the recipe again but using much smaller burger buns & have 'em as a mini sloppy finger food for the next group I host (I usually do two get-togethers a month)! Many thanks for sharing this great recipe! [Made & reviewed for one of my adoptees in this Spring's round of Pick A Chef]
