Penne Salami Bake

"I found this recipe in a Quick Cooking cookbook and it was a hit at a family gathering."

Ready In:




  • Cook pasta according to package directions, drain and set aside.
  • Preheat oven to 350 Degrees F.
  • In a large skillet, saute the onion and garlic in olive oil until tender.
  • Stir in tomatoes, tomato paste, peppers, salami, olives, salt, and pepper.
  • Simmer, uncovered, for 5 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and stir in pasta.
  • Spoon 1/2 of the mixture into a 2 quart baking dish and sprinkle 1/2 the cheese on top, repeat with the other half of mixture and cheese.
  • Place in oven and bake 15 miunutes.

  1. Very tasty pasta bake! I slightly browned the salami with the onions and halved the oil, salami is so fatty itself.
  2. This was a very tasty pasta dish. I had some very ripe roma tomatoes so I used them (peeled and chopped), I added them to the onion/garlic and let them simmer for 5 minutes before I added the rest of the ingredients. I halved the amount of olives because I have a non-olive lover in the house and I knew he'd sit there and pick them out. The finished dish had a lot of flavour, loved the cheesey layer in the middle and best of all, the entire family enjoyed it!! A definite make again recipe.

  5. Really good! We used our favourite deli peppercorn salami so it was nice & spicy. I omitted the olives, as a personal preference, but followed the recipe otherwise.


  1. Substituted red bell, instead of green because it was what I had.
  2. this was very good. i did not use the green pepper or olives. i did not have salami so i used turkey pepperoni instead. i also substituted 2 cups mozarella instead of the swiss cheese and cheddar, too lazy to go to the store. a really nice recipe even or maybe because of the substitutes. thanks
