Peanut Butter Blossoms

"My mom made these cookies all the time when I was little, now I like to make them for my kids."

• Ingredients: 12
• Yields: 48 cookies

ingredients

• 1 3⁄4 cups flour
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
• 1⁄2 cup sugar
• 1⁄2 cup brown sugar
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 1⁄2 cup shortening
• 1⁄2 cup peanut butter
• 1 egg
• 2 tablespoons milk
• additional sugar
• 48 Hershey chocolate kisses (unwrapped)

directions

1. Combine shortening, sugars, egg, vanilla and peanut butter.
2. Add dry ingredients and milk.
3. Shape dough into small balls, then roll in sugar.
4. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet.
5. Bake 10 minutes at 350.
6. Place a kiss in middle of each cookie pressing until the edges crack.

Delicious! In my oven, they should be baked about 9 minutes, and I used the tip of putting the Hershey Kiss on before the final minute of baking, which worked nicely, although it would be enough to stick it on before the final 10 seconds.

I made these once already this holiday season and they were gone in about 24 hours! Just made another batch today. I didn't adjust anything. Made exactly as the recipe calls for and baked on my stone for 10 minutes. These are absolutely amazing!

This is exactly the way I make my peanut blossom cookies! I made a triple batch yesterday and can't keep the kids (or myself) out of them. I hoped they'd last till Christmas, but....??

To Belinda McManaway: Thanks for sharing your recipe for Peanut Butter Blossoms. They are to die for! They're soft and sweet and the kiss is just slightly melted. I make these cookies using Hershey Special Dark kisses and I don't roll in sugar. So yummy!
