Overnight Apple French Toast

  • In a small saucepan, cook brown sugar, butter and corn syrup until thick, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Pour into an ungreased 13x9x2-inch baking pan; arrange apples on top.
  • In a mixing bowl, beat eggs, milk and vanilla.
  • Dip bread slices into the egg mixture for 1 minute; place over apples.
  • Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  • Remove from the refrigerator 30 minutes before baking.
  • Bake, uncovered, at 350°F for 35-40 minutes.
  • For syrup combine last 4 ingredients in a medium saucepan; cook and stir until hot.
  • Serve over French toast.

  2. This is such a wonderful, warm, and delicious recipe. Its probably one of the best overnight recipes that I have tried so far. Breakfast is my favorite meal, and I've found another great way to serve it. It really is sweet enough without the syrup, but I did serve it with maple, instead of the one listed. Lots of compliments, and I will definitely make this again. Thank you for sharing this great recipe.
     
  3. I made this for my extended family. What a hit! Next time I will experiment with making more caramel mixture and eliminating the syrup. This is one terrific recipe!

  5. I have a very similar recipe that we use every Christmas. I love it because you can make it ahead of time and have a yummy breakfast in the morning. I make mine without the syrup but I will definitley try that next time.
