Questions & Replies

  1. I made this recipe twice and it was very good both times and I received multiple compliments but......I lightly coated them with olive oil prior to putting them in and bag of mixed ingredients, the adherence of the ingredience was not uniform but good, the recipe does not call for a pre-coating, so my question is what causes the ingredients to adhere to the chicken if you don't pre-coat and is it more uniform. I guess I could just try it again and follow the instructions but.....tonight I'm doing ribs. ;-)

  2. What is the green seasoning on top of the wings pictured... Italian seasoning? Basil?

  3. I have tried this recipe before and is wonderful the way it is. However, I thought I would try to add some finely shredded parmesan cheese to the spice and flour mixture. What your opinion on that?

  4. Me no get crispy joke. What a rotten recipe!

  5. Here's how the recipe reads ... "Line a large baking sheet with Release foil and melt the butter on it. ( Makes for easy clean up.). Add wings to pan and turn to coat." Huh?

  1. This is a great recipe! You can shake some extra seasonings on the wings once they are coated, or add to the bag. I have used regular flour, garbanzo bean flour, and almond flour - all with great results. I have made this recipe many times, and I have to say, you can use cooking spray alone, and it works wonderfully. I have found the non-stick foil to be superior, and it works great for this recipe if you have some on hand. The best thing about this is you can get crunchy wings, seasoned to your preference, and save the calories from frying (if you omit the butter and use cooking spray.) Dry the chicken well before you coat it with flour, and make sure they are fully defrosted if they were previously frozen. Excellent, versatile recipe!

  2. This is one of those recipes that actually works!!! Didn't take long to mix the flour and spices, then pop in the oven. I sprayed with olive oil spray instead of rolling in butter, and they came out so crisp. Even after being refrigerated, they were still crispy! Great/ simple recipe. Thanks for sharing :-)

  3. My husband & I love wings, but I hate frying them, so we usually will go out. Previously when I have cooked wings in the oven, the skin was not crunchy, so I was a little hesitate about trying these. Well, I certainly don't have to worry anymore! We can now stay at home because I have found a keeper. These are wonderful. I went a little easy on the cayenne, but I will definitely add more the next time (and trust me, there will be a next time). When I turned the wings over, I did put them on a clean piece of foil to rid it of the remaining butter just to make sure that they would brown & get crunchy. Thanks for sharing this wonderful recipe.

  4. These wings are outstanding! My husband said that they were the best wings he's ever eaten. I did make a couple of changes. I didn't have cayenne pepper so I used sweet paprika for the paprika and spicy paprika in place of the cayenne pepper. I added a couple of dashes of granulated garlic (in addition to what the recipe called for). I cooked the wings on a cooling rack that I placed inside of a roasting pan (so the heat could circulate and crisp them better) and I cooked them about 40 minutes on the first side and about 20 minutes more when I flipped them. They were perfectly crispy (and not greasy) on the outside and very moist and tender on the inside.

  5. Amazing! I’ve been trying to cook more diverse homemade meals; that my husband enjoys! It’s always been hard for me to think of meals each night, with this website, my family is loving everything I’ve made!! Thank you!! These wings shocked my husband that they are baked because they come out so crispy, with less mess and healthier than frying. I recommend this site for anyone looking for delicious recipes or anyone who isn’t a natural born chef or who loves to cook. I hated cooking before and got stressed wondering what to make each day. I have had nothing but great responses to my meals sense finding this site!! I definitely recommend the food on here; I haven’t been disappointed with anything I’ve made; it feels amazing that other family members are now asking me for recipes and my husband is bragging on how great my food is!!... with so many dishes to choose from, and the ratings from others, you can see the food that appeals to you and your needs.

Tweaks

  1. ALTERNATIVE METHOD: (1) Melt butter gently over stove-top then slightly cool..... (2) Prep spiced seasoning mix..... (3) Pat wings dry and pour melted butter over the wings tossing in a bowl to fully butter coat..... (4) Evenly sprinkle 1/2 of dry seasoning mix over wings and toss again to fully coat the wings in the bowl..... (5) Repeat step #4 developing a somewhat dry seasoning flour coating..... (6) Parchment Paper may substitute foil then spread out wings and roast turning wings over half way through roasting time..... ENJOY!

  2. Used seasoning salt, garlic powder, smoked paprika, ginger powder.

  3. used garlic powder instead of garlic salt, because i am on low sodium diet. i like the powder better anyway. i did almost 2 tea of it, because i like heavy garlic, but it wasnt overpowering. also, i did on parchment paper since i was out of foil....came out perfect!

  4. Been making baked wings for a long time. I don’t use the flour mixture instead I just place my cut up wings in a large bowl drizzle with vegetable or olive oil and toss to cover sprinkle with salt & pepper and toss again. Arrange wings on a baking pan and cover tightly with foil. Bake in oven at 400 for about 30 minutes remove foil turn wings and bake another 15 minutes uncovered. At this point the wings are done and just need to get crispy. Transfer wings to a rimmed cooking sheet lined with parchment paper. Place back in the over turn regularly until crispy. Towards the end I will lightly brush with a Bbq sauce of choice. Once crispy transfer to bowl and toss in Texas Pete Wing Sauce. Serve with celery and Ranch or Blue cheese dressing.

  5. Added a spoon of butter to the powder mix, and marinated it overnight.
