  • in a large pot, brown the ground beef, drain off excess fat and discard. add cubed round steak, tomatoes, V8 juice, onion soup mix, onion, celery, green peppers, banana peppers, banana pepper juice, vinegar, garlic, bay leaf, chili powder, BBQ sauce, ketchup, liquid hot pepper sauce, cumin powder, beef bouillon granules, salt, oregano, onion powder, paprika, black pepper, crushed red pepper, basil, thyme and dried red pepper.
  • bring the mixture to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 2 hours, stirring often. correct seasoning and add beer to taste. simmer for 1 hour stirring occasionally.
  • makes about 6 quarts of chili.
