  1. I was going to submit my family's most favorite Thanksgiving dish, NEW ENGLAND YAMS, but saw your recipe and it is identical, except for the process. I use pineapple chunks and double the recipe and use my 9x12 pan as this dish disappears quickly!! I drain 2 large cans of yams or boil cook 5-6 yams until soft and put them in the 9x12 pan first. I then drain the pineapple tidbits and reserve 1/3 to 1/2 c juice and pour the tidbits and the juice atop of the yams. After mixing the dry ingredients minus the nuts, I crumble it on top of the yam/pineapple mix. I then add the chopped walnuts or pecans. Everything else is the same as your recipe. Isn't this the BEST recipe for yams ever?? I got the recipe from a friend of my mother in law about 25 years ago and it is STILL a huge hit with family, friends (old and new) who try it. It's delicious with a little homemade turkey gravy on top. YUMMY!! Thanks for submitting it 'cuz it saves my typing it out! :o) So GOOD!!!
