Nana's Lemon Supreme Cake

"This recipe was given to me by my grandmother(Nana). She won several blue ribbons at the county fairs with it."

  • 1 (18 ounce) box Duncan Hines lemon supreme cake mix
  • 34 cup Crisco cooking oil
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup apricot nectar
  • 12 cup sugar
  • GLAZE

  • 2 lemons, juice of
  • 12 cup sugar

directions

  • Cream Sugar and Oil together and add eggs one at a time.
  • Add cake mix and nectar alternately.
  • Mix well.
  • Bake in tube pan for 1 hour @ 325 degrees.
  • Let cool in pan 20 minutes.
  • Meanwhile mix the lemon juice and sugar together and cook on the stove until sugar is dissolved.
  • Remove cake from pan and spread glaze on top and sides.

  1. Have had this recipe for at least 50 yrs. The only thing I do different is I use powdered sugar with lemon juice to make a thick glaze. Let the cake cool then pour very thick glaze over top and serve. Its great.

  5. this is a GREAT cake!! i didn't have the nectar so I used apple juice and added a tsp of lemon extract. perfect cake. very moist and lemony.
