Mushrooms and Green Beans

"This is a family recipe that my grandma always has to make at Thanksgiving. She's not allowed to bring anything else! Usu. I use margarine, but I would recommend sticking wtih the butter in this recipe for the best flavor."

  1. Ideal side! I dressed this lovely side up by using Baby Crimini mushrooms and fresh steam in the bag Haricot Verts. As this was a special dinner for DH and myself did cut the recipe down to serve two. Thanks so very much for the great post.

  2. Delicious on the Thanksgiving table - awesome flavor (though we did reduce that butter down to about a tablespoon). Will be serving again as the main green vegetable for "regular" dinners. Thanks for the recipe WI Cheesehead!

  3. With a little added garlic and balsamic vinegar, these were superb! Thank you!

  4. LOVED IT!!! I don't really like green beans to much, but this recipe has made me a believer. I was just looking for a simple green bean recipe that would add color to my table for Thanksgiving. I just ran this recipe through a 'taste run' and it is a keeper!!! Easy and deeeelicious!! My green bean eating daughters will love this - i can't wait to surprise them on t-day.

I am a Christian wife and mother of 3 kids. Since my DH's high cholesterol, we've been eating better. I never used to like cooking. Since eating better, I've liked learning and preparing new recipes. My kids haven't reconciled themselves to the new eating yet. I grind my own grain and make all my own breads.?Working 2 hours a day in the local high school lunch room.??I am homeschooling my high schooler.? ?Also found out 1 child has multiple food allergies (wheat, dairy, tomato, chocolate, etc) and another is gluten sensitive. So, we just started (July 09) eating gluten and dairy free. I've been busy with getting our house market ready, even though it's not the best time for that.?
