  • Pour boiling water over 100% bran in a small bowl.
  • Beat sugar and shortening until creamy.
  • Add eggs, buttermilk and bran flakes to sugar mixture.
  • Mix well.
  • Sift flour, baking soda and salt together. Blend into egg mixture.
  • Stir in bran mixture.
  • Spoon into tin cupcake wrappers.
  • Bake at 400 for 15-18 minutes.
