This is another recipe I’ve been making for 50+ years. But the version I make includes prepared horseradish and sherry wine or burgundy as added ingredients. The recipe was originally published in the LA Times when I was a kid in Jack Lalanne’s food column. My kids grew up with this and love it. They still ask me to make it. I always make a huge batch because it’s better on day 2 or 3 and everyone wanted to take the leftovers for lunch.
