This recipe is fantastic! I printed out 6 recipes for molasses cake and this was the best and easiest by far. My husband's mother used to make him molasses cakes and he says this tastes just like hers. Next time I will bake it in a 9x13-inch pan as he says his mothers cakes were thinner. I can't thank you enough for this recipe that I will make frequently!

Maybe this would be better with a lighter molasses (the one I used may be pretty strong), because it had a lovely texture, but it wasn't at all sweet enough for me - and I don't even like things that sweet. It might be good with a sweet cream cheese frosting - I don't particularly even like cream cheese, so if that's the first thing I think of, I think it must go well. I really wanted to love this cake, and it was almost fabulous. Maybe I'll try it again sometime with a different molasses or something.
