Mincemeat Pie Filling

ingredients
- 2 quarts ground meat
- 1 quart ground apple
- 2 lbs seedless raisins
- 1 lb currants
- 1 lb mixed fruit
- 1⁄2 lb red cherries
- 1⁄2 lb green cherries
- 1 1⁄2 cups molasses
- 5 cups sugar
- 1⁄2 cup vinegar
- 1⁄2 cup lemon juice
- 3 tablespoons cinnamon
- 3 tablespoons allspice
- 3 tablespoons cloves
- 3 tablespoons nutmeg
- 1⁄2 cup beef suet or 1/2 cup butter
directions
- Bring to a real good boil on a slow heat stirring constantly.
- Cook for about 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally, making sure it doesn't stick - so very good!

the recipe i use is from the 1700's.<br/>mincemeat is not a dessert.<br/>i guess you like your mom's cooking.<br/>but after having made this (i kept an open mind until i tasted it)<br/>it is a nonauthentic version of mincemeat and only ok.<br/>my friends and i agreed that we would eat it if nothing else was available.

<br>I guess the dish that I am famous for is my Christmas ham - my family all comes home for Christmas, and if i don't have my ham they are dissapointed, and my grandson wants the pistachio squares!!! so I guess that is the dishes that I'm famous for.
