Maple Apple Sausage Balls

I can't remember where this recipe came from originally - I've had it in my recipe box for so long and it has become a favorite at pot lucks! These are also great to make ahead of time and freeze uncooked. To bake them from frozen, thaw on a baking sheet at room temperature for 15 minutes and bake them in a preheated oven for 25 minutes or until golden brown. For a firmer texture you can add 3 cups of baking mix and 2 cups of shredded cheese.

ingredients
- 2 lbs maple sausage
- 1 1⁄2 cups all-purpose baking mix
- 4 cups shredded mild cheddar cheese
- 2⁄3 cup granny smith apple, peeled and grated
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
directions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl and stir well.
- Form into 1-inch balls and place them on an ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from oven and cool for 5 minutes before removing them from the baking sheet.
