Maple Apple & Blueberry Crisp

"I had just prepared Nurse Di's Rhubarb Apple Crumble (which also has maple syrup in the recipe) when i came across this one at Canadian Living Magazines website,hopefully it is as tasty! Use apples that hold their shape well such as Golden delicious, Idared, Granny Smith, Northern Spy."

  • In large bowl,toss apples, blueberries,sugar, flour,lemon juice& cinnamon.
  • Spread in an 8x8 inch square baking dish.
  • Topping: In bowl combine brown sugar,flour, oats,& cinnamon,pour in maple syrup& butter,toss until moistened.
  • Sprinkle over fruit and bake at 350 for 1 hour or until golden& fruit is fork tender.
  • Let cool on rack for 15 minutes.

  2. Just might be the BEST crisp topping I have ever had!<br/>Cut back the sugar a bit on the filling, and added some extra oatmeal to the topping... awesome!
     
  3. Added about 500g blueberries. This was fantastic. The crumble was really something special with the maple syrup. Definitely making this again!
     
  4. Used an assortment of apples, that needed were past their prime. The result: a very tasty dessert and no wasted fruit!
     
  5. Excellent! We loved this! I made as stated with Grade B maple syrup and wouldn't change a thing. Nice that the recipe uses only 2T butter when similar crisps use an entire stick. I'll make this again and again! Thanks for sharing the recipe!

About me....well...let's see,right now I am a married, stay-at-home Mom to two beautiful children, a 10 year old daughter and a 7 year old son....they are the "lights" of my life, which I think I pretty much spent waiting for them! I feel so very lucky (and truly blessed) to be their "Mommy". I don't know that I have a fave cookbook, (and I have rarely opened one of the many I have, since finding Zaar.) I just LOVE recipes and have been "acquiring" them since I was a teenager! Actually I think I bought my first cookbook in like grade two or three, a cookie recipe book from one of those scholastic book orders!
