  1. This is a great recipe and I used it to top some fresh angel food cake slices. I could not find strawberry juice so I used the advice of another reviewer and pureed some fresh strawberries and created base that way (I know it is not as thin as a juice but it seemed to work well.). I did cut the sugar back as the strawberries were so naturally sweet that I just did not think they needed all the extra white sugar. Thanks for a great recipe!

  2. We love strawberries and this simple sauce is delicious. We added it over breakfast waffles and enjoyed it very much. A plus to add over cake slices, pancakes, waffles, ice cream, etc., instead of jam. Thanks for the recipe. I tagged it for THINK PINK RECIPE TAG EVENT - October 2011.

  3. Even if I didn't have literally hours of strawberries to pick and use, I would still go the extra mile to make this dessert. I always say as you plop down to gently partake of these delicious treasures, that the humble strawberry mixed with sweetness is a gift from heaven. In my opion this recipe really highlights every aspect of strawberry. Mixed with the sweetness of the "simple syrup" (water/white sugar) the color and taste are wonderfully highlighted. I served these just in a simple, but elegant bowl, with just a spot of fresh whipping cream atop. These are the kind of recipes you just dream about in the winter when it is so cold. Thanks, katia! 4. What a simple, perfect dessert! This came together even more quickly than the time indicated! My sons who claim not to like strawberries loved it, as did DH and I. This is wonderful alone, and would also be great served over shortcake/poundcake, or even pancakes for breakfast! Thank you, Katia, for posting a new family favorite! Made for ZWT3.

  5. I agree that 2 cups of sugar is too much. A Finn (like me) would not dream of using that much. I would start with 1/2 cup.

  1. I loved it, but also found this a tad too sweet and would cut the sugar down next time. That said the idea and the result are very pleasing and I'd be happy to make it again. No strawberry juice here so I just pureed half a cup of strawberries and used that instead. Please see my rating system: a lovely 4 stars for an easy and delightful dessert. Thanks!
