Low-Fat Creamed Tuna on Toast

ingredients
- 1 (10 ounce) can low-fat cream of mushroom soup
- 1 (4 ounce) can mushroom stems and pieces (drained)
- 1 cup frozen green pea (optional)
- 2 (3 ounce) cans tuna in water (drained)
- 10 ounces skim milk (1 soup can full)
- 1 tablespoon dried dill weed
- 1⁄2 teaspoon garlic powder
- cracked pepper
- 8 slices whole wheat bread, toasted
directions
- In small sauce pan, add all ingredients. Stir continually over medium heat till warmed through.
- Serve over toast.

Very tasty and you sure can't get much quicker. I didn't add any milk at all, but just added the tuna with it's water and as I had some fresh mushrooms to dispatch so I just chopped them up and used them up. One other thing I did differently and that was to use Stove Top stuffing in place of bread. Served with a side of fresh greens and dinner was a hit.

nice idea but far too watery for my tastes. i added half/half corn nd peas (all i had on hand) but found there was far too much liquid in this recipe. maybe better 'bulked'out with fresh mushrooms (instead of canned) and a bit of thickening...... definitely worth 'tweaking' as it was very tasty, low fat and used ingredients most of us would have in the house. thanks boomette1

I omitted dill weed. Instead of a can of mushrooms, I used fresh mushrooms that I grilled in a pan with butter. Then I added them to the mixture of tuna. I added cheddar cheese to give more taste. I served it on a toast but I don't like when the toast is soaked. Next time, I'll serve this with pasta or rice. Thanks :)

I can't thank each of you personally although I try. <br /><br />I Live in central Virginia, 5 miles from where I grew up, w/ my Husband of 17 years and my beautiful daughter. She is 10 and is the joy of my life. We waited for a long time to be blessed with a child and it is the best thing I've ever done. Be a mother. <br /><br />I love to cook. We eat very healthy, after a life altering experience at 31 I've been on a journey to be healthy and lose weight. I've lost 50 lbs and have kept most all of it off for the last 9 years. There are always fluxs, durring stressful times, but I've mananged to keep most of the weight off. My best advice to anyone trying to lose weight is to remember that it didn't get there overnight and it won't come off overnight. I've never said I was on a diet. It is a lifestyle.</p>
