Liver Tonic Tea

"Have you been partying too hard? This tea will help you get back on healthy track. Look for burdock root in the produce section of your local health-food store. It looks like a black carrot. Look for dandelion root in your backyard (if it's pesticide free) or at your local herb shop."

 1. This is a tea with a very strong taste, but if you're a tea person you will be able to taste the difference between a tea simply for taste and a tea for health. This is definitely for health! It's robust and earthy and warm and just feels very restorative and comforting. Be careful with the ginger as it can definitely overpower the whole brew. A great place to get burdock root is at your local Asian market. Anytime you can avoid buying commercial tea bags the better off you'll be. Most herbs grown for commercial use are sprayed heavily with pesticides during their growth, then stored in large warehouses where they're fumigated often against rodents and bugs. Then they seal them into tea bags with toxic glue that is released with the hot water you use for steeping the tea. Sounds lovely, doesn't it? So stick with the homemade stuff as much as possible. Thanks for the great recipe!

 2. This is different tasting... not BAD, just different. the mint came through nicely. The ginger did not, tho. I added just a small amount (maybe 1/2tsp) of agave syrup. How do you know if it's working? I couldn't find burdock root or dandelion & i wasn't about to use the stuff in my nyc postage stamp backyard where the dog plays. :o I used burdock root tea bags (2) & dandelion tea bags(1) from the hfs.

i intend to drink this repeatedly. Thank you! Made for Aussie swap 4/11. :)
