  • Heat olive oil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat.
  • Add onion, ginger, garlic, cumin, turmeric, garam masala and red pepper and saute for approx 2 minutes (until onions are soft).
  • Add cauliflower and saute 1 minute.
  • Stir in broth and lentils, making sure to mix well.
  • Bring to a boil.
  • Cover, reduce heat, and simmer for about 35 minutes or until lentils are tender.
  • Stir in lime juice and salt.

  1. Very good! I too loved the addition of cauliflower to the daal. I thought it might become mushy by the time that the lentils were done, but it came out great! A good side dish to my butter chicken. Thanks emmie!
     
  2. This was excellent! Loved the addition of the cauliflower to the daal. I am used to cooking it as just plain lentils. I cooked some quinoa and then mixed it all together at the end and let it simmer for about 5 more minutes. It was a complete and delicious meal! Thanks for a great weeknight recipe.
     
  3. The flavours were fantastic, but my lentils were totally undercooked - maybe they were bigger than the kind you used. I cooked it for another half hour, and they were still crunchy. We ate it anyway, and the flavour was great. I'll definitely cook it again, but will cook it for at least 1 1/2 hours
